Yeast Free Diet new elimination

So far, so good!

It has been very hard to follow this exact, but over all I have done well. After this week with these eliminations and the medications the doctor has me on I have felt better. I have been more relaxed and have had more energy. The biggest change I have seen is being focused. I have gotten a lot done this week, which has been a good feeling and keeping me motivated to keep going.

This week I'm eliminating fruit/juice, syrup and bread/cereal. Wow that is a mouth full. I like that stuff!

Looking at the list I will be eating a lot of meat and vegetables. Stir fry here I come!

Yeast Free Diet begins tomorrow!

Sorry for the lack of posts. Been planning my wedding and meeting with the doctor. Had a couple health concerns (nothing too serious).

So I am to go on a yeast free diet. Doctor said most of my symptoms (upset stomach, headaches and weight gain, to name a few) are caused due to my yeast overgrowth. This will not be easy!

I'm taking it week by week. There is a long list of items I can not eat.

The focus this week will be no mushrooms, candy, peanuts, pistachios, mayonnaise, mustard, pickles, soda,  and dried fruit.

Every week I will eliminate other items off the list.

Wish me luck. I will keep you updated on how I'm doing!

Fear, working through and on

Where did the time go. This month flew right by! My focus this month has been stepping out of fear. People sometimes forget what fear really is. For me fear happens in many forms. I'm not sure if it's from past experiences or just thoughts in my head. One fear I worked through this month is roller coasters. I let go of my thoughts, rode the rides with my eyes open and actually enjoyed it. Felt good to just let go.

Also the fear of the unknown is something that is hard for me. I have decided to start my private practice New Steps Forward (www.newstepsforward.net) officially January 2011 and setting things up now for that to happen. That starts with a new focus and ending another focus. TMS Holistic Health as always will remain my passion and I will continue to have my website and such, just no newsletters. This is getting past a fear because my school set me up for TMS Holistic Health. Many people are out there as Holistic Health Coaches/Counselors. There are not many if any Holistic Parent Educators. So I am stepping into the fear and creating something that is new, but much needed for all parents!

So is there anything that you have done that required you to step into fear? What was it like? What were the end results? Feel free to leave comments and let me know.

Here are something to take with you when fear comes across your past!
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?" - Institute of Integrative Nutrition

Actually, who are you not to be? You have the control to be who you want to be! You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

Get up and Move

Hello everyone. Time for the monthly goal update! Although the weather has not been cooperating, this month I have focused on working out 4 times a week. So far so good and I am increasing how long I work out each week. My end result by the end of the month I will be at 1 hour 4x's a week.
Wish me luck!

Has anyone set any work out goals this year that need to be refreshed?  Starting my day off with a little movement increases my energy for the day!

Please post a comment and let us know how working out (or not working out) has affected you.

Here are 5 reasons to incorporate exercising into your day and or week!

1. To keep you young - Did you know working out can increase the amount of oxygen consumed and can stimulate new brain cells.
2. To reduce infections - Moderate workouts temporarily revs-up the immune system. The more you work out the more your immune system gets a boost.
3. To control blood sugar - by exercising you help to maintain a healthy blood-sugar level by which can help to control your weight.
4. To combat stress - Regular exercise lowers levels of stress hormones. It has been known to relieve depression as effective as antidepressant medication.
5. To prolong life - Studies have shown that being more active cuts the risk of premature death.

March goal chewing

Hello all! I am in the process of launching my private practice and I have been a little behind with my postings and newsletters. Sorry about that.

During the month of March I focused on chewing. With each bite I chewed at least 20 times and did my best to put my fork down between bites. The results was definitely eating slower and not feeling like I needed to eat so much. The funny thing that happened was a lot of people commented about my chewing, "you chew loud" or what are you chewing that takes so long"! it made me realize that in our culture we don't take the time to relax, chew and enjoy our food. Since there was no newsletter last month here is some extra information on chewing.

Enjoy!

Why is chewing important?
Chewing leads to smooth digestion and greater assimilation of nutrients by initiating the release of digestive enzymes that break food down.

It is especially important to chew foods that are carbohydrates. To digest carbohydrates it begins in the mouth. By chewing we are turning the grains and other complex carbohydrates into satisfying sugars that makes oils, proteins and minerals available for maximum absorption.

If you would like more information on chewing send me an email or post a comment and I can give you a handout with more more details.

Enjoy chewing everyone!

Eczema

A friend asked me about a more natural way to treat eczema. I have done some research and figured I would share the information with everyone.

What is eczema?
Also known as atopic dermatits it is a type of skin rash. It is characterized by itchiness, redness and scaliness. When the area is scratched frequently the area may have oozing blisters surrounded by red or discolored areas.
Food allergies can trigger or cause the eczema to worsen.
I recommend the RAST Test and if the results do not answer your questions The Allergy Sensitivity Test through Geonva Labs will help narrow down where the allergens may lay. Both test should be covered by your insurance. I do not recommend the skin test as it is painful and only severe allergies are recognized.
If you want to do an elimination test the most common food triggers are eggs, milk, peanuts, soy and wheat/gluten. If you do this make sure to eliminate at least 1 week at a time.
Adding high quality animal based Omega 3 fats to reduce inflammation and
Using a mild soap and don't over bathe.
Using a high quality probiotic and fermented foods.
Increasing your Vitamin D, which improves our skin.

Best of luck! And as always any information to share please send an email or a comment. Thanks.

No high fructose corn syrup

It has been a couple weeks into making sure I am not taking in high fructose corn syrup. It is actually easier then I expected. Went grocery shopping today for the first time since deciding on taking this on and and except for reading labels it wasn't that different.

I hope everyone is reaching the goals they have set so far this year!

New month New Goal February

To keep up with my monthly goals I decided to work on reducing my high fructose corn syrup. The verdict is still out in regards if it is Ok to eat or not, but I have decided to see if limiting it would help me to be healthier.

Sweets will be harder for me as it's my birthday month and Valentine's Day :)

So this month I will focus on natural sweets and decrease processed sweets. It's interesting because I don't consume a lot of natural sweets, I have learned my favorite sweetener is not recommended anymore... agave nectar. So this month I will reduce the use of agave nectar and also find a substitute sweetener by the end of the month.
Check out: http://blogs.mercola.com/sites/vitalvotes/archive/2009/06/16/agave-a-triumph-of-marketing-over-truth.aspx for more information on agave nectar.

It is important to read labels in general and that is where most people can begin to make changes. So all labels I can read I will avoid high fructose corn syrup. Wish me luck!

Hope all is well with everyone and each and all are reaching your goals.

Please share I look forward to hearing from you.

Bio film update

Hello everyone.
I had recieved a few questions about the biofilm protocol and realized I have not given out the latest update.
It has been a couple weeks of no biofilm protocol and I feel great. I stopped it for a few weeks ago as I will be switching protocols under my new doctors care. I'm excited to return to it as I feel it has really helped me to clean out my body and feel cleaner all around. Also my new doctor was able to detect a yeast overgrowth which she believes only surfaced because the biofilm was cleaning me out.

I hope others have had success with the biofilm. I would love to hear from others.

Once I return onto the biofilm I will update you once again.

Until Then... Enjoy...

January Goal

Hello everyone! This is my first post of the year. I want to begin with HAPPY NEW YEAR! It is going to be a great year and I am looking forward to all the year has to offer me.

My January Newsletter is coming out and if you haven't read it let me give you a glimps...

The focus is setting monthly goals instead of a New Year's Resolution. Usually my New Year's resolution is to be healthier. Over the last few years I am much healthier, but it's time to work on the specifics to being healthier.

This month my January goal has been less salt. Although I haven't posted I have been using less salt. To be honest prior to this goal I prefered to put salt on every or every other bite. So this month I have reduced the salt intake. Suprisingly I don't miss salt. I have been tasting new flavors and actually eating less in general.

New York's Mayor is actually trying to pass bill to lower the amout of used in New York. To find out more read here: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/01/11/business/11salt.html

For those of you that do not know your sodium level it may be benefial to ask next time you are the doctors and follow any recommendations that may be made in regards to how you should move forward.

For those that enjoy the salt and are not sure why you should give it up, know overconsumption of salt can lead to health risks such as high blood pressure and kidney problems.

There are many resources on salt available. Please let me know if you have any questions or comments. I would love to hear from you.

Thanks for reading. Check back to see what changes I'm going to make next month!
